2xCD-Version mit 36-Seiten Booklet im oversized Softpack mit Prägedruck. CD 2 enthält exklusive Instrumentalversionen jedes Stücks. James Lavelle gründete UNKLE 1994 gemeinsam mit Tim Goldsworthy (Produzent, Remixer, Mitbegründern von DFA Records) gehörte. Lavelle ist zudem Betrieber des legendären Trip Hop / Headz Labels Mo' Wax. Später begann Lavelle mit Josh Davis alias DJ Shadow als UNKLE zusammenzuarbeiten. 1998 erschien das erste Album "Psyence Fiction", das mit Gastsängern wie Rapper Kool G Rap, Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Richard Ashcroft (The Verve), Mike D (Beastie Boys) und Badly Drawn Boy aufgenommen wurde. Die MusikWoche bezeichnete das "unheilschwangere Streicherharmonien", "schleppende Rhythmen", treibende Gitarrenläufe und "einschmeichelnde, melancholische Melodien" aufweisende Album als "Triprock". Mit der Single "Rabbit in Your Headlights" und dem Videoclip dazu gelang ein Welthit. Das fünfte Studioalbum "The Road" zeigt UNKLE weiter als weniger elektronische als instrumentenbasierte Liveband. Gäste sind Primal Screams Andrew Innes, Folkrocker Keaton Henson, The Duke Spirits Liela Moss, der Queens of the Stone Age-Drummer Jon Theodore und der Beck-Drummer Justin Stanley. Lavelle: "I hadn't made a record in a long time, and the incarnation of UNKLE had changed in that now, it was me on my own. For that reason, I wanted to make a record that I hadn't been able to before, going back to the roots of where I came from, with a foot in modern London"."
